Production managers completing manufacturing orders can't fulfill deliveries efficiently: finished producing 20 units Coffee Powder but 3 customers waiting (Customer A needs 10 units by July 10, Customer B needs 5 by July 8, Customer C needs 3 by July 1), manually searching through delivery orders to assign finished goods wastes 45 minutes, and urgent delivery for Customer C (July 1 deadline!) gets overlooked because oldest order processed first not earliest deadline—creating late deliveries and customer dissatisfaction from poor allocation logic.
Odoo 18 Manufacturing Allocation Reports automate finished goods assignment with allocation report tab appearing post-production, consolidated view showing all waiting deliveries for manufactured product, one-click assignment (Assign/Assign All), priority-based allocation by delivery date, customer visibility showing who's waiting, and delivery validation integration—eliminating manual delivery search and enabling deadline-based allocation improving on-time delivery rates 40%.
Allocation Features: Post-production report, Waiting delivery consolidation, One-click assignment, Priority by date, Customer visibility, Partial allocation support, Delivery integration
Enabling Allocation Report
- Go to Manufacturing → Configuration → Settings
- Enable Allocation Report
- Save configuration
Once enabled, allocation report appears after manufacturing order completion showing all deliveries waiting for that product.
Scenario Example
Situation:
- Product: Coffee Powder (storable, zero stock)
- Manufacturing Route: Enabled
- BoM: Configured with operations (Roasting, Grinding, Blending, Packing)
- Waiting Deliveries:
- Customer A (Deco Addict): 10 units, due July 10
- Customer B (Azure Interior): 5 units, due July 8
- Customer C (Aka Foster): 3 units, due July 1 (URGENT!)
- Total needed: 18 units
- Manufacturing: 20 units (buffer stock)
Creating Manufacturing Order
- Go to Manufacturing → Operations → Manufacturing Orders
- Click New
- Configure:
- Product: Coffee Powder
- Quantity: 20 units
- Bill of Materials: Select BoM (operations auto-populate)
- Click Confirm (order moves to Ready)
- Click Start to begin production
- Complete operations
- Click Produce All when finished
Accessing Allocation Report
After production completion:
- Open completed manufacturing order
- Click Allocation smart tab
- Report displays all waiting deliveries
Report Columns:
| Column | Information |
|---|---|
| Delivery Order | Sequence number (clickable) |
| Customer | Customer name |
| Quantity | Units requested |
| Scheduled Date | Delivery deadline |
Allocating Products
Option 1: Assign All
- Click Assign All button
- Allocates all manufactured units to deliveries automatically
- Fulfills smallest/earliest deliveries first
Option 2: Selective Assignment
- Click Assign button on specific delivery row
- Allocates quantities to that delivery only
- Useful when insufficient stock for all deliveries
Priority Strategy: Sort by Scheduled Date ascending. Assign to earliest deadline first (Customer C July 1, then B July 8, then A July 10). Prevents late deliveries on urgent orders.
Validating Deliveries
After allocation:
- Click delivery sequence number in allocation report
- Opens delivery order with allocated quantities
- Products moved from manufacturing to delivery (Reserved status)
- Click Validate to complete delivery
- Products transferred from stock to customer location
Partial Allocation
When manufactured quantity < total demand:
Example:
Manufactured: 10 units
Demand: Customer A (10), Customer B (5), Customer C (3) = 18 units
Strategy:
- Assign 3 units to Customer C (July 1 - most urgent)
- Assign 5 units to Customer B (July 8 - next urgent)
- Assign 2 units to Customer A (partial, July 10 - least urgent)
- Schedule second manufacturing run for remaining 8 units
Best Practices
Always Sort by Date First: Allocation report shows all deliveries but order random. Click Scheduled Date column to sort ascending. Assign earliest deadline first prevents late fees and customer complaints.
Manufacture Buffer Stock: Need 18 units? Manufacture 20-22 (10-20% buffer). Covers urgent orders appearing after production started. Small overproduction cost << rush order cost.
Use Allocation for High-Demand Products: Don't enable for every product—report overhead not worth it for low-volume items. Enable for products with: 5+ waiting deliveries regularly, frequent stockouts, high value/priority customers.
Conclusion
Odoo 18 Manufacturing Allocation Reports streamline finished goods distribution with consolidated waiting delivery views, one-click assignment, priority-based allocation, and delivery integration. Eliminate manual order searching and improve on-time delivery through intelligent allocation workflows.
